Web Services Projects
I have never made a website before.
Most of our clients had Kona Impact make their first website. We are very good at giving you as much or a little information as you want. We genuinely feel that the client is entitled to ask as many questions as necessary to feel comfortable and informed. We try to listen before speaking. We also ask a lot of questions.
We have completed tens of web design projects and website revision projects. We have some pretty good ideas about what does and does not work online, and we welcome the opportunity to share our experience with you. This is one of the big advantages of using a local company; we're able to sit down with you and go over all aspects of the project in person.
What web development skills do you have?
We like to say that if you can explain or show it to us, we can make it. Our skills include HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and Flash. We are also skilled at working with online video. This allows us to make anything from a simple website to full database solutions. We have made websites with Flash elements, databases, online stores, custom scripting and have integrated a large amount of open source solutions, including blogs, content management systems and bulletin boards in our web designs. Our tools include Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, and Premiere.
Do you work with pre-existing websites?
Yes, we can update or fix your current website. Typically, we work on a per-hour basis for this type of project.
Can you do a website for $300?
No. If you see $300 websites, they are almost certainly template websites. You will have very little control over the design, navigation or function of the website. You might also find that you will have inflated hosting costs, your website will not be optimized for search engines, and you will not have any ability to edit your website later.
All of the work we do for our clients is custom web design. None of our sites look the same. We also work with our clients to make sure the design and content make the website not only visually pleasing, but also highly effective online.
I want my website to look like some websites I have seen online. Can you do it?
Probably. Let us know what you like, and we’ll give you an honest answer.
What is S.E.O.—search engine optimization—and why is it important?
Probably the biggest mistake web developers make is not focusing optimizing website to be found and indexed properly on Google, Yahoo and MSN. A website that looks great is important, but it is equally important that the design contribute to the website being found. A great website without a S.E.O. focus is like building a great store in the middle of the desert. People need to find your website.
At Kona Impact, we make S.E.O. a primary concern when designing your website. It’s not a separate product; it’s included in all of our web designs. Good S.E.O. takes a lot of work, but we feel that businesses need great design, and they need to be found online.
What is S.E.M—search engine marketing—and why is it important?
Search engine marketing is using the search engines to promote or market your products or business online. It includes S.E.O. (see above), online ad placement and pay-per-click marketing.
Pay-per-click marketing is the use of Google Adwords or the Yahoo or MSN equivalents to place your marketing message in front of people using the search engines to find things online. When someone clicks on your ad, you pay Google a fee, typically between $.05 and $1.00 for most terms. We strongly recommend that businesses consider pay-per-click advertising as a way to attract highly qualified leads for their business.
S.E.M., like S.E.O. is an important part of attracting visitors to your website. We are happy to show you some of your options and share our experience running online marketing campaigns. We can also run your campaigns for you or show you how to run them by yourself.
Does my website include email addresses?
We will be happy to setup your email addresses for you. This is more a function of your server than our web design work, but we are happy to do it for you.
Do you provide hosting?
Yes. We have our own dedicated server, which means we ensure that your website will perform as required. If you host with us, we guarantee that we will take care of all server-related issues at no cost. If you choose your own host, you will have to contact your hosting provider on your own if you have server-related problems.
What’s a domain name?
A domain name is the unique name for your website—www.abc123.com. While we can register your domain name for you, we feel it’s better for you to control your own domain name. The process is simple, and the one-year costs are about $10. If you need a domain name, we click here: World's Largest Registrar - GoDaddy.com
