Kona Impact Digital Media Solutions for Hawaii's Businessess

Community

West Hawaii is where we live, work and play, so it very important for us to give back to the community that has given us so much. We fully realize that Hawaii Island is geographically isolated and smaller in population than many towns on the mainland. Because of this, we have a special responsibility to help each other and strengthen the foundations that make Hawaii such a special place to live and work.

At Kona Impact, we have focused our community support efforts on four areas:

  1. Community Health. In 2008 we undertook a series of projects at greatly reduced rates for the West Hawaii Community Health Center. The health center provides services for a wide range of people living and working in Kailua-Kona regardless of income. We made their website and newsletter design. It is our hope that the money they saved will go to providing health services to our the West Hawaii community.

All employees are welcome to donate blood at Hawaii Blood Bank during working hours.

Kona Impact offers a monetary reward for any employee who takes a CPR class and receives certification. In April of 2008, our graphic designer became CPR certified.

  2. Education. In 2007, Kona Impact donated tens of hours to help update the website for the GEMS 2007 program—Girls Exploring Math and Science. This is a day-long program put together to provide girls in their early teens a chance to get excited about what math and science can do for them in their everyday life and to explore possible career possibilities using math and science.

  3. Environment. Kona Impact is committed to considering the impact we have on the environment we have on a daily basis. This includes hosting some of our websites with a “carbon neutral” host provider. We also try to make sure we reduce our consumption and reuse and recycle products whenever possible. Many of our in-office snacks are purchased from local farmers at the farmers market down the street. This reduces the need to import food to the island and helps support local farmers.

  4. Helping the Disadvantaged. In 2007 and 2008, we made food and monetary donations to The Food Basket In 2007, we donated toys to Toys for Tots.

We are always willing to talk with non-profits and charitable organizations about how Kona Impact can help at no, or a greatly reduced, fee to the organization. We are committed to helping organizations that are focused on making Hawaii Island a better place.
